Why should I take care with runoff?
Runoff is produced by everyday activities, but there are a few things we can all do to reduce excess nutrients and pollutants to run into the lake.
Keep phosphorus “dirt bags” off of your lawn! Reduce phosphorus amounts in runoff, which spurs algae growth in the lake by using phosphorus-free fertilizer.
Not only do the things we put on our yards run into the lake, but also the grime we wash off of our cars. To prevent pollutants, soap and sediment that you wash off of your car from running into the lake, use a commercial car wash. Commercial car washes have systems to catch and recycle and clean water and grime, leaving your car and the lake clean!
