Why should I adopt a fire hydrant?
Providing fire protection to our community is tough work. Having to clear snow from hydrants to do it makes it even tougher!
With over 4097 fire hydrants in the Tahoe Basin, it’s a lot of work to keep them clear. Adopting A Hydrant closest to your home or business and keeping it clear of snow and debris allows firefighters to quickly respond to an emergency. Meaning, you can help make our community safer.
To adopt a hydrant, clear a three-foot space around the hydrant and to the roads edge. That’s it! You’ve adopted a hydrant.
