Backcountry Camp: Trailwork at Echo Summit

Come on out for a fun group camping and trailwork weekend at Echo Summit of Highway 50 south of Meyers, CA! The TRTA will be hosting between 20 and 30 volunteers to help rehabilitate existing trail and build new trail as part of the Echo Summit Reroute Project on the PCT/TRT. We’ll meet in the evening of August 16th at Echo Summit where we’ll car-camp in relative luxury. For the next three days we’ll work hard at everything from simple side-hill benching in soft soil to technical rock construction. Enjoy our delicious volunteer chef-prepared meals from dinner on the 16th through lunch on the 19th. Enjoy fantastic views of the Echo Summit area during lunch breaks and while on the job.

Please note! Our camp and work site are at high elevation, approximately 7000 feet. If you will be traveling from low elevations or are not accustomed to strenuous activity at high elevation we recommend you arrive in the Tahoe area several days in advance to acclimate to local conditions.
