Our connection to Take Care

As the primary caretaker of the 200+ mile Tahoe Rim Trail system, the mission of the Tahoe Rim Trail Association is to maintain and enhance the Tahoe Rim Trail system, practice and inspire stewardship and preserve access to the natural beauty of the Lake Tahoe region.

The Tahoe Rim Trail is one of the most iconic and beautiful long-distance recreation trails in the world and sees over 400,000 visitors each year. This single-track trail is open to hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers (in most areas). Circumnavigating the ridge lines of the Tahoe Basin, the TRT crosses six counties, four National Forests, three wilderness areas, two states and one state park.

The TRTA is responsible for the ongoing improvements and maintenance to this famous trail system, and receives help in this endeavor from hundreds of volunteers each year. Join us for one of many work days or backcountry camps this summer to be a part of this ongoing project!

The TRTA also maintains a wide selection of programs for trail users. From education talks on Tahoe wildflowers and completing the trail to overnight courses teaching backpacking and snow camping, and from guided thru hikes of the entire trail and four-day backpacking trips for teens to afternoon hikes to find giant trees and evening treks to watch the full moon rise, the TRTA has you covered! See how we can help you get out on the trail this year!

Tahoe Rim Trail Association is a proud participant in Take Care.
