Come celebrate Mother Earth at the South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Festival on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Bijou Community Park!
Earth Day recognizes, celebrates, and promotes our region’s unique beauty while educating the public about local environmental issues. Bring your friends and family to learn about ways to counteract global climate change through recycling and composting, alternative energy, water conservation, sustainability, and reducing our ecological footprint. Enjoy local live music and dance, swing through the kid zone to make some recycle-themed arts and crafts or get your face painted, and be sure to support or wide array of educational booths and local vendors. Food and local crafts will be available for purchase.
Earth Day is one of the largest public environmental events of the year in the Lake Tahoe area and is a volunteer-run, non-profit event operating under the non-profit Tahoe Earth Day Foundation. Your continued participation and support allows our event to remain free to the public each year.
About the Tahoe Earth Day Foundation
The Tahoe Earth Day Foundation, a non-profit organization, formed to educate the general public regarding the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region’s unique beauty and how to preserve and protect it. The means of providing such education includes, but is not limited to, regional Earth Day Festivals that include environmental and educational booths with focus areas on watershed health, forest health, water conservation, pollution prevention, alternative energy, and waste management. The foundation recognizes and celebrates the work of Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin whose creation of the first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970, eventually lead to national legislation such as the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act. www.tahoetruckeeearthday.org
