Wildflowers abound in Lower Carpenter Valley

It’s a special treat to ride out to see the Lower Carpenter Valley! Truckee Donner Land Trust invites you on a guided mountain bike ride to the magnificent Lower Carpenter Valley. Minutes from Truckee but hidden from view, Carpenter Valley offers grand scenery, lush meadows carpeted by wildflowers, and the chance to see wildlife in its natural environs.

Ride details: Enjoy a docent-led, 8+ mile ride on mostly flat terrain on surface streets from the Alder Creek Adventure Center to Carpenter Valley Road, then along somewhat rough ranch roads. This will be your chance to get past the locked gate and see what lies beyond

What should I bring?

Please wear closed toe shoes and bring bug spray, sunscreen, water, and snacks you’ll need for our outing. Depending on the weather, you may need sun protection (hat/glasses), rain gear, or cold weather gear.

Can I bring my dog?

No. Due to the sensitive nature of this unique and pristine environment, dogs are not allowed in the Carpenter Valley. Pets will not be allowed on any of the group hikes. We kindly ask that you please leave your pets at home. Your canine companion is welcome at every Land Trust property that is currently open to the public. Please visit tdlandtrust.org for recommendations.
