The Eriksson Education Center

The Eriksson Education Center is located inside the Tahoe City Field Station (formally the Historic Fish Hatchery) at 2400 Lake Forest Road, Tahoe City, CA 96145 (For directions click here).

Housed in the historic hatchery built in the 1920s, surrounded by a native plant demonstration garden, the Eriksson Education Center (only open during the peak summer months) features innovative exhibits on why Lake Tahoe is unique – and how science and research are being used to restore and protect Lake Tahoe for future generations.

Hours

Open in the summer months only (Memorial Day through Labor Day) the center features self-guided tours every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors are welcome to view the Eriksson Education Center, located on the north side of the building or tour the grounds, which feature several interpretive panels among the demonstration gardens and test plots. Visitors are also invited to conduct citizen science, including water quality and plant phenology.
