Sign Up for Evacuation & Emergency Alerts

 

Be notified by your local emergency response team in the event of evacuation or emergency alert. 

 

El Dorado, Placer, Washoe and Douglas County allow individuals to register up to five addresses for notifications. Those who often travel around Lake Tahoe should sign up for all four counties.

Eldorado National Forest

Closed through September 30. 

 

USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region Emergency Forest Closure

Closed through at least September 6:

        • Lake Tahoe Basin Mgmt. Unit
        • Tahoe National Forest
        • Modoc National Forest
        • CA lands within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest (info)
        • Shasta-Trinity National Forest
        • Lassen National Forest
        • Six Rivers National Forest
        • Mendocino National Forest
        • Plumas National Forest
        • Klamath National Forest

BACKCOUNTRY CLOSURES

 

USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit Backcountry Closure Order

The following backcountry areas are closed through September 19:

        • Desolation Wilderness
        • Meiss Backcountry
        • Barker Pass Road and Blackwood Creek
        • Pacific Crest Trail/Tahoe Rim Trail along Tahoe’s West Shore

STATE PARK CLOSURES

 

NEVADA 

All Nevada State Parks within the Tahoe Basin will be closed until Friday, August 27 at least. 

  • Sand Harbor
  • Spooner Lake
  • Spooner Backcountry (including Marlette/Hobart Backcountry)
  • Cave Rock
  • Van Sickle

CALIFORNIA 

The following California State Parks within the Tahoe Basin will be fully closed (camping and day use) until further notice. 

  • D.L. Bliss State Park
  • Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park
  • Emerald Bay State Park

Power Outages

 

A Public Safety Power Shutoff is a safety procedure utilized by electric utilities to proactively turn off power when and where conditions present an increased wildfire risk.
