Join SheJumps and Alpenglow Expeditions to get prepped for the 2023/24 backcountry season with our Get Ready for Backcountry evening on Friday, December 15th! We’re really excited to be included in this year’s week of great backcountry programming as part of the Tahoe Backcountry Safety Awareness Week (December 11 – 16) with our Friday night event! During this women-focused event, you’ll hear from some of Alpenglow’s women guides about what they include in their repair and first aid kits, and what they put in their pack for a successful day in the backcountry! Learn about what to look for when dusting off your beacon from summer, and how to seek out additional training and continuing education this winter.

Following the lecture and Q&A, we’ll have demos to show you how to cut new skins and wax your skis/board, with do-it-yourself stations set up afterwards. Please bring your own gear if you want to give it a fresh wax or get your skins cut. No prior backcountry experience is necessary to attend! There will be plenty of time to connect with Alpenglow guides after the demos and with other women to find new backcountry buddies, all over another glass of wine or beer.

Beer provided by Montucky Cold Snacks, wine by Revelshine, and light snacks by Alpenglow Expeditions will be served before and after the lecture. Don’t forget your ID if you’d like to partake in the alcoholic beverages!

No specialized gear is required for this event. This presentation will cover more advanced topics on backcountry recreation and mountaineering, however all skill levels are welcome to attend to learn more about the sport and experience of recreating in the backcountry on skis or splitboard!
