North Lake Tahoe Fire is hosting a free screening of the award-winning documentary Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future at Sierra Nevada College: UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (UC Davis TERC) at 291 Country Club Drive, Incline Village, NV 89451 on Thursday, May 30th.
Wilder than Wild is a one-hour documentary that reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed Western landscapes to large, high intensity wildfires. The film goes on to explore strategies that are being developed to help mitigate the impact of these fires.
The screening at UC Davis TERC is part of a larger effort to engage communities in conversations about the future of wildfire. A panel featuring North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, US Forest Service, Washoe County Emergency Management, Washoe County Sherriff’s Office, Washoe County Search & Rescue and NV Energy will follow the screening.
North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District recognizes the importance of building community awareness about mitigation strategies in this new age of wildfire.
