TERC Science Speaks Series: Microclimate Diversity and Lesser Known Varietals of Wine, with Boeger Winery

Located in Placerville, the Boeger Winery estate was homesteaded during the 1849 Gold Rush and eventually became the first modern-day (post-Prohibition) winery in the El Dorado American Viticultural Area. Boeger became a pioneer by experimenting with lesser-known varietals such as Barbera, Carignane, Refosco, Charbono, and Aglianico, just to name a few of the over thirty varietals that the winery grows. Justin Boeger, UC Davis alumnus and the son of founder Greg Boeger, will present unique varietals from the diversity of microclimates found in the El Dorado AVA. Justin will also share of growing 70 different types of grapes, the wine-making process, terroir, smoke impacts, and more. Seating is limited. The cost is $55 and includes wine tasting and heavy appetizers. Advanced registration is required. Must be 21 to join. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the presentation starts at 6:00 pm.
