What we'll do

Join the Truckee Donner Land Trust for a moderate to strenuous 6.5 mile round trip hike to Point Mariah overlooking the beautiful Royal Gorge and North Fork of the American River.

Hiking Details: Enjoy a mostly moderate hike with some strenuous climbs/descents with an elevation change of over 1000′ at a maximum elevation of 7480′.


What should I bring?

Please wear closed toe shoes and bring bug spray, sunscreen, water, and snacks you’ll need for our outing. Depending on the weather, you may need sun protection (hat/glasses) or rain gear or cold weather gear.


Can I bring my dog?

No. Pets will not be allowed on any of the group hikes. We kindly ask that you please leave your pets at home. Your canine companion is welcome at every Land Trust property that is currently open to the public. Please visit tdlandtrust.org for recommendations.


How do I get there?

From Interstate 80: Exit at the Soda Springs/Norden off ramp. Proceed East about one mile on Old Highway 40 to a flashing light and turn right on Soda Springs Rd.Exit at the Soda Springs/Norden off ramp. Proceed East about one mile on Old Highway 40 to a flashing light and turn right on Soda Springs Rd.  Continue on Soda Springs Rd about a mile beyond past Pahatsi brings you a dirt road on the left hand side of street, just past Dulzura Road which leads you to the Hoelter Hall Trailhead. This trailhead provides access for the Rowton Peak and Pt. Mariah trails.
