Promoting resilience is key to supporting healthy development in youth; yet, there has been a decline in youth resilience across the United States. About 1 in 4 to 5 youth develop a mental health disorder which leads to poor school outcomes and higher rates of risky behaviors, self-harm, and even suicide. Join us for a rich discussion about trends in adolescent health and how we, as parents and as community members, support youth in developing protective factors that can bolster their resilience and help youth thrive.

Presenters

Mark Servis, M.D. is Vice Dean for Medical Education at the UC Davis School of Medicine.

Kathleen Tebb, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at UC San Francisco in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine.

Peter Mayfield is the founder of Gateway Mountain Center and has been an innovator in youth adventure programming for 35 years. Peter. Their innovative nature-based treatment method Whole Hearts, Minds, and Bodies is showing very promising results for youth with serious emotional disturbance and substance use issues.
